Great Beginnings at 8th Annual Holy Trinity Chess Tourney

This past Saturday, seven kids from the chess club participated in the 8th Annual Holy Trinity Chess Tourney in Oconomowoc.  Except for two, it was the first ever chess tourney for the group.  Five kids (Kevin, Alex, Chloe, Lisa, and David) formed the K3 team from Wilson Elementary.  They took home the 2nd place team trophy in the K3 section (and tying the 1st place team from Holy Trinity in total points).  Individually, Kevin Wan won 1st place overall in the K3 section with a 4.5 out of a possible 5.0 pts.  Alex Chen, at his very first chess tourney, took home the Age 8 top finisher trophy while Maddie Weber won the 4th place overall in the K8 section.  She has the same number of points (4 out of a possible 5) as the 2nd and 3rd place winners – losing to them on tie-breakers.

Most important of all, everyone had a great time and a great experience for the beginners!
