More Success at WSCF Grade Level

We had a great club turnout for one of the largest scholastic chess tourneys in Wisconsin, the WSCF Grade Level held at the MSOE Kern Center in Milwaukee on March 29th. 15 of our kids (including Chloe Wong) participated in this massive event. Besides competing in five rounds of chess, the kids enjoyed each other’s company while hanging out at our team room between rounds. The parents got to chat with each other and everyone had pizzas for lunch. Some of our parents were also kind enough to volunteer and helped out at the event (thanks!).

The kids who participated in this event were James Gong, Brandon Gunn, Connor Bartol, Kevin Wan, James Sutliffe, Kyle Knutson, Nishanth Siva, Anish Kusukuntla, Benjamin Martyn, Jack Wypiszynski, David Gunn, Steven Yang, and Chloe Wong. Everyone had a great showing, and in fact, 9 of our kids were in contention for a trophy before the final round. The trophy winners from our club were:

Brandon Gunn – 3rd place in the 1st Grade Division
Kevin Wan – 9th place in the 1st Grade Division
Steven Yang – 8th place in the 4th Grade Division
Benjamin Martyn – 10th place in the 4th Grade Division
Chloe Wong – 2nd place in the 8th Grade Division
Donges Bay (Steven, Benjamin, and David) – 1st place team trophy in 4th Grade Division
Wilson (Kevin, Connor) – 2nd place team trophy in 1st Grade Division
