Club Kids Fared Well Against Strong Competiton

14 of our chess club kids participated in the typically strong USM chess tourney on November 22nd.  As expected, all the strong chess schools (such as USM, Brookfield Academy, Orchard Lane, County Line, Lake Denoon, and Muskego) were in attendance.  It was definitely a good opportunity to see how our kids do against a large field of solid chess players.  At the end of the day, our Mequon Chess Club kids did well.  The Donges Bay K3 team (Abby Trop, Lauren Strifling, Joey Hernandez, William Wang, and Brandon Gunn) took home 3rd place while the Donges Bay K6 team (Alex Zhang, Austin Xiong, Benjamin Martyn, David Gunn, Steven Yang, and Amy Wang) won 1st place overall.

Individually, Steven Yang and David Gunn both won trophies, placing 6th and 8th respectively in K6.

All in all, it was a great tournament for our kids.  Some solid chess were played and everyone had a great time.
