Huge Success at Evangel Assembly of God Chess Tourney

13 Mequon Chess Club kids had huge success at this past Saturday’s Evangel Assembly of God Chess Tourney in Milwaukee. Five team members (Adam Davidson, Amy Wang, Maddie Webber, Chloe Wong, and Steven Yang) played in the K12 section while seven others (Zain Beg, Alex Chen, Chloe Chen, Lisa Koshelkova, Daniel Mekhtiev, David Oh, and Abby Trop) played in the K3 section. William Wang was the sole member who played in the K6 section.

Both K3 and K12 teams won 1st place decisively. The K3 team garnered a total of 15 pts, 3.5 pts more than the 2nd place team, Golda Meir. The K12 team also garnered 15 pts, 4 pts more than 2nd place, also a team from Golda Meir.

Individually, the kids took home 6 out of the 15 possible trophies. In K3, Lisa Koshelkova took 3rd while Alex Chen placed 5th. Both had a total of 4 points. In K6, William Wang won 3rd place with 4 pts. In K12, Chloe Wong won 2nd, Steven Yang took 3rd, and Maddie Weber placed 4th.

All our kids did very well with some just missing winning a trophy by tie-breakers.

Everyone had a great time and we want to thank Evangel Assembly of God chess club for running a smooth and great tournament!
