Ending the 15-16 Season on a High Note at Gradelevel Championship

The Mequon chess club ended the 2015-16 on a high note at the WSCF Gradelevel Championship held at MSOE this past Saturday. Thirteen of our club kids (Kasra Nasiri, Daniel Mekhtiev, Paul Shister, Zain Beg, Alex Chen, Abby Trop, Kevin Wan, Neekan Nasiri, Nishanth Siva, Maddie Weber, Steven Yang, Adam Davidson and Chloe Wong) participated in a field of 276 at 10 different grade levels.

The chess club came away with four individual trophies and four team trophies!

Individually, Kasra Nasiri won the 5th place trophy in the Kindergarten division, Paul Shister took 3rd place in the 1st Grade division, Kevin Wan also placed 3rd in the 3rd grade division, while Maddie Weber won 2nd place in 6th grade with Chloe Wong winning 5th place in the high school division.

At the team level, the 1st grade team (Daniel Mekhtiev and Paul Shister), the 3rd grade team (Alex Chen, Abby Trop, and Kevin Wan), and the 6th grade team (Nishanth Siva, Maddie Webber, and Steven Yang) all came away with 1st place in their respective divisions while the high school team (Adam Davidson and Chloe Wong) won 2nd place.

It was a fantastic way for the kids and the club to end the 2015-16 season!
