Tournament Attendance Brings Results

I haven’t been able to attend WSCF chess tournaments with our club for the last couple months, but I am so glad to see our kids continued to regularly attend tournaments. As I have always said to my chess kids and parents, attending chess tournaments are the best way to quickly improve your chess skills and understand where your weakness are. Since the Nicolet Chess Tournament back in January, five of our kids have placed and won trophies in six different tournaments. In certain tournaments, some of them have even elected to play in higher divisions, giving up a better chance to win a trophy in exchange for matches against stronger opponents.

The latest win for our chess club kids is at the Milwaukee Christian Center where Kyle Knutson won 2nd place (his 1st trophy) in the U500 division. Kyle has been regularly attending chess club, taking notations, and going to chess tournaments whenever he can. He is a great example of one of our  kids getting results when one put in the work and improving their understanding and skills through tournaments.
